FALL RIVER – Jay Vee’s Floor Covering marked their 50th anniversary of doing business in Fall River with a Grand Re-opening Celebration at their Durfee Street location with members of Fall River’s legislative delegation and members of the Fall River Chamber’s Board of Directors in attendance. Citations were presented to Jay Vee’s on behalf of the City of Fall River as well as the Massachusetts House of Representations and Senate.
The Viveiros family established Jay Vee’s in 1954. The business’ original focus was the replacement of auto seat covers and convertible tops followed by furniture re-upholstery, including theatre seats. By 1960 the business evolved into a full-service floor covering business offering sales and installation of carpet, vinyl and tile flooring.

"In the early years there were very few floor covering businesses in Fall River," said Madeline Viveiros, matriarch of the family and original founder with her husband, John. "Over the past 50 years I’ve seen many open and close. What makes Jay Vee’s unique is the fact that it has been family owned and operated for the last 50 years – located on the same street, on the same block, carrying the same quality name brands, such as Armstrong, Congoleum, Shaw Industries, Coronet, and Mohawk; all with the original owners still there! Jay Vee’s has served generations of families and is proud to still be contributing to Greater Fall River’s economic growth while continuing to provide quality products, expert workmanship and honest, reliable service."
John Paul Viveiros shares his family’s pride in Jay Vee’s’ long history of doing honest, reputable business in the Fall River area. Jay Vee’s has also been a workroom operation providing quality installation for national retailers including JC Penny and Home Depot. The Viveiros’, however, had decided to revert back to where they originally started; focusing on residential and commercial customers, providing the right products for their floor covering needs.

Since that job was completed we’ve done hundreds of installations with this incredible flooring, including Bishop Stang Chapel in North Dartmouth, an assisted living facility in Taunton and many residential homes. It’s an excellent product for durability and it’s affordable. Residential installations have included kitchens, living rooms and bathrooms."
