When Solid Rock and Versa Tile merged in 2009, the two respective owners Phil Santo and Daniel Yanovich already knew each other well. They'd been competitors in the same market, yet working together on projects to bring clients the highest level of customer service and craftsmanship possible. While working together we found ourselves in a new and ever changing market, so we decided to leverage our talents together permanently and bring customers a level of service and craftsmanship that we saw leaving our industry. Daniel Yanovich has been in the stone industry for over 10 years. He quickly found himself rising to the top, learning from some of the leading companies in the tile field. He has become a key resource for many contractors, home owners, and designers in the Santa Barbara area. After having many customers and contractors ask for him specifically to be their tile setter, he thought it would be a prudent move to start his own company. He wanted to transfer this knowledge and skill to others and raise the bar for tile work done in Santa Barbara, so he opened Versa Tile and became and instant hit. Phil Santo has worked in the stone industry for over 15 years with experience on all sides of the industry. Working with such Companies as Saint Goblin Abrasives (32 billion in sales yearly) he was supervising the NW American Territory, also Divisional Account Manager for Western Tile and Marble; who dominated everything from high-rises in downtown Seattle to Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino on the Las Vegas strip. Working in these high pressure environments has given Phil an appreciation for working with the every day home owner that is seeking elegance and affordability. This is why it excited him and felt natural to move into starting Solid Rock.
