FALL RIVER – Jay Vee’s Floor Covering marked their 50th anniversary of doing business in Fall River with a Grand Re-opening Celebration at their Durfee Street location with members of Fall River’s legislative delegation and members of the Fall River Chamber’s Board of Directors in attendance. Citations were presented to Jay Vee’s on behalf of the City of Fall River as well as the Massachusetts House of Representations and Senate.
The Viveiros family established Jay Vee’s in 1954. The business’ original focus was the replacement of auto seat covers and convertible tops followed by furniture re-upholstery, including theatre seats. By 1960 the business evolved into a full-service floor covering business offering sales and installation of carpet, vinyl and tile flooring.

"In the early years there were very few floor covering businesses in Fall River," said Madeline Viveiros, matriarch of the family and original founder with her husband, John. "Over the past 50 years I’ve seen many open and close. John Paul Viveiros shares his family’s pride in Jay Vee’s’ long history of doing honest, reputable business in the Fall River area. The Viveiros’, however, had decided to revert back to where they originally started; focusing on residential and commercial customers, providing the right products for their floor covering needs.
