The store was originally opened as a Plywood Minnesota franchise in 1976. Denny Johnson purchased the business in April of 1980 and continued to operate as Plywood Minnesota until 1982 when he and a group of other regional franchises formed Floor to Ceiling. The business remained in its original location in the Fergus Falls industrial park for 24 years. In the fall of 2003, Denny and his wife Kathy along with Tim and Kathie Cullen of Cullens Home Center in Alexandria began construction of a new facility at the high traffic Tower Road location. In the fall of 2004 they opened their new 34000 sq ft showroom. Although seperately owned and managed, the collaboration of the two businesses under one roof offers true one stop shopping. Floor to Ceiling has now grown to a home improvement chain with over 200 stores in 26 states which allows us to pass our national buying power on to our customers
