Guild's Semi- Annual Wood Class

Event
Technical Training is important but without understanding the Wood Science behind it, how can we call ourselves Wood Flooring Professionals?

The Professors at NCSU Wood Extension Department have many years of experience working directly with saw mills, kiln drying operations, engineered wood manufacturing and testing wood flooring in the Hodges Wood Laboratory.

This May they are taking those combined years of direct hands-on experience, education and now interaction with Wood Professionals to the NWFA!

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

The classes will teach you the basic wood anatomy to understand and be able to explain what you inspected to your clients. Then, that knowledge will be applied to solid and engineered wood issues we inspect each day.

How and why does solid and engineered wood check? Why does engineered wood Warp (twisting and cupping). What is delamination and shearing; and how are they different? What are the many different types of checks in engineered wood and how can you, the inspector, tell the differences? What are drying defects? What are manufacturing defects? How do they happen?

Why is moisture and wood characteristics so important to know about engineered wood? Is Engineered wood truly a stable product? True or False?

This is your opportunity to learn from the people who know the FACTS!
