| Good News: The next LGM Carpet Seminar is Scheduled for November 5, 6 and 7th. Guest Speaker: Perry McLawhorn – Is an expert in fiber characteristics and applications for floor covering industry. Led commercialization of new and innovative fiber technologies like low melt fiber cross bonding for Honeywell Fibers and has extensive knowledge of the steps to manufacture carpet from polymer to finished carpet. Guest Speaker: Lee Phillips - Is the director of the industry’s largest and most technologically advanced independent testing laboratory. He is responsible for analyzing, evaluating, developing and operating test procedures on a multitude of floor coverings and related equipment. Topics to be discussed will be testing of and requirements for carpet, laminate, hardwood, and vinyl, along with the Carpet and Rug Seal of Approval Program for testing of vacuum cleaners, spot cleaners, and cleaning equipment. He will also be discussing XRF Technology from NASA that could lead to “smart carpet” identification. Lew Migliore – Considered to be the floor covering industries’ most passionate, respected, independent, and objective analyst of complaints, problems and performance issues. “No one understands textile floor coverings and their characteristics or problems and can articulate them like Lew Migliore”, by Dave Foster of Floor Radio. Sim Crisler – The expert in pattern and modular carpet construction and installation. Conducted the Milliken Installation Contractor Certification Program, received the Excellence in Education award, served on the CRI Installation committee, is an associate member and served as chairman for the FCIA and was trustee of the FCIB (Floor Covering Installation Board). Benny Wood – Is a chemist and expert in adhesives, adhesive formulations and usage. He currently is a member of the advisory panel developing standards for floor covering installations for the adhesive and flooring manufacturers. He is involved in revising the Green Label Program for VOC emissions for adhesives and sits on the D-14 and D-22 standards committees of the ASTM.
