Industry vets launch Lamipro, Laminate company making debut at Surfaces
Dalton—Flooring industry veterans Pete Ciganovich and Gordon Lundee have formed Lamipro and through an agreement with Belgian-based Belfloor are bringing the manufacturer’s “high-quality, highly competitive” laminate flooring and accessories to the U.S. market. While the two have made appearances at some buying group trade shows, they are making their official U.S. debut at Surfaces 2008.

The two have 70 years of combined industry experience and both are serving as executive vice presidents of Lamipro. They will represent the laminate line by the same name, along with the Trimpro brand of moldings through their headquarters here, where they have already established a 30,000- square-foot warehouse and are in the process of buying a distribution center in the city.

They are specifically focusing on the Eastern, Central and Rocky Mountain regions of the U.S. and will work in conjunction with the manufacturer’s owners Jeffery Goeman and Martine Vanhulle, who not only have their own manufacturing facility in China, but according to Ciganovich, all products are produced using a mechanical locking system under license from Välinge, one of the world’s two major patent holders of glueless systems.

“Styles are appealing to U.S. consumers with quality embossing at the low price points and unique looks at the higher end with V-grooves handscrapes,” he explained. “We have seven products with a total of 28 SKUs in laminate and have just introduced hardwood—a 14mm engineered with a 3mm maple handscrape for light commercial use—that we will be showing at Surfaces on the main floor in booth 6456.”

Besides the Dalton facility, Ciganovich said “in the first 30 days of our start, we have brought on three excellent selling agencies headed by Dan Feagan (Indiana and Illinois), Isaiah Mays (Kentucky and northern Tennessee) and Don Kennard (Ohio and western Pennsylvania).” And, at press time, an agreement was near with a “major distributor” in the Northeast. The strategy also includes having distribution centers in the major regions of the U.S. to better service Lamipro’s distributor/agents.

Ciganovich said Lamipro is not just about product as he and Lundee “have a keen understanding of what today’s flooring dealer needs in product value but also service.”

With that, Lamipro has developed the Designer 2 Display Collection to showcase the seven products and all 28 SKUs for $199 rebated after qualifying purchases have been attained.
