Shaw Industries Agrees To Acquire The Anderson Family Of Companies
Dalton, Ga.- September 14, 2007 – Shaw Industries Group, Inc., a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway, announced today that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire The Anderson Family of Companies based in Clinton, SC.

Anderson has been in the hardwood flooring business for over 61 years and sells under various brands including Anderson™, Virginia Vintage™, Appalachian™, Biltmore Estate® and the Anderson Pacific™ brand. Anderson is a fully integrated producer of hardwood flooring and is noted for their quality, craftsmanship and innovation.

In commenting on the transaction Vance D. Bell, Chief Executive Officer of Shaw Industries Group, Inc., stated, “We are very excited about Anderson joining Shaw Industries. Anderson has a longstanding reputation for product innovation, styling and premier quality. We are pleased that Don Finkell and the entire management team of Anderson are joining Shaw and we welcome all Anderson associates to the Shaw team. Both Anderson and Shaw are fully committed to the Anderson brand and its growth through their existing channels and customers.”

Don Finkell, President and Chief Executive Officer of Anderson, commented further, “Joining Shaw Industries will allow Anderson to keep being Anderson but with even greater resources. The combined strengths of these two companies will allow us to continue exceeding our customers’ expectations for outstanding products and services for many years to come.”

The closing of the transaction is expected to be completed shortly. The financial terms of the transaction are not disclosed.
