Dalton—Shaw’s Hard Surface Division announced recently the implementation of its new locking system, Loc N Place. Shaw is the first and only mill in North America to utilize the single-action patented technology.

“This is truly the most exciting enhancement in the laminate floor industry,” said Scott Sandlin, Shaw’s vice president of hard surface development. “Not since the conversion from glued to glueless laminate installation has there been an advancement of this magnitude in the industry.”

Exclusive to Valinge licensees who have specific licenses on the 5G system, Loc N Place products improve installation by saving time and money. Loc N Place products differ from Shaw’s Versalock AG’s angle/angle system, requiring only a simple single-action angle and drop with laminate ends clicking vertically.

“Throughout the years I have performed many installations,” said James Mullins, manager of field technical services for Shaw, “and Loc N Place is the fastest and easiest installation I have ever experienced. I believe it is the future of laminate flooring.”

However, the new locking system does share VersaLock’s benefits, which include exceptional seam integrity, joint strength, moisture resistance and highly competitive pricing.

Shaw has currently converted approximately 20% to 25% of its laminate line to the Loc N Place system. It aims to have all colors of the inventory styles Natural Splendor II, Rustic Expressions Oak, Rustic Expressions Pine and all beveled-edge products available with the new locking system by the end of the month.
