FCNews, Formica host ‘stump the schwab’
Think you know your sports trivia? Could you use an extra $1,000 in your wallet? Then stop by the FCNews or Formica Flooring booths to enter for a chance to test your sports knowledge against your fellow Surfaces attendees and, ultimately, Howie Schwab, star of ESPN’s popular “Stump the Schwab” program. Schwab will be the special guest of FCNews and Formica Flooring on Wednesday, Jan. 30 and Thursday, Jan. 31, at Booths #5942 and #4630 on the main level respectively.

Here’s what’s in store: Schwab will host a series of “Stump the Schwab” games throughout the day on Jan. 30, and on the morning of Jan. 31 at the FCNews and Formica Flooring booths. Stop by either booth for a schedule. The winners will then square off against each other with the victor taking on Schwab himself at 3 p.m. on Jan. 31 at the Formica booth. Defeat the “Sultan of Sports Trivia” and you win $1,000.

If you are interested in playing, stop by the FCNews booth or register by e-mailing associate publisher/editorial director Steven Feldman at fcnsteve@ yahoo.com. Include name, address and phone number along with why you should be picked to compete.

But that’s not the only way to win FCNews’ money at Surfaces. Throughout the first two days of the show, come by our booth, cast your ballot in FCNews’ Award of Excellence contest and Schwab will ask you one sports trivia question. Answer correctly and walk away with a crisp $20 bill.

And just because you don’t have a good mind for trivia doesn’t mean you can’t stop by our booth and talk sports with Schwab, who also serves as ESPN’s coordinating producer and statistician. Cast your Award of Excellence ballot and ask him anything.

Schwab has held various positions at ESPN since coming on board in 1987. Network officials felt so confident with his sports knowledge that they decided in 2002 to develop a quiz show around his talent. He is also a regular contributor to ESPN’s “First Take” as the Couch Potato.

“Stump the Schwab” appears on ESPN Classic weekdays at 6 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
