GSA’s National Furniture Center (NFC) recognized Mohawk for its “ongoing and steadfast dedication to reducing waste by improving energy and resource efficiencies through innovative products, processes and services.”
Al Kabus, president of The Mohawk Group, said receiving the Evergreen award is a shining achievement in the company’s history. “Environmental responsibility is a cornerstone of our corporate character, and this honor only reinforces our dedication to vigilantly seeking new ways to elevate the sustainability bar.”
The GSA Evergreen Award was developed to feature environmental stewards across all industries that proactively initiate programs such as recycling, affirmative procurement and waste reduction in order to reduce its company’s and industry’s environmental footprint. Mohawk diverted more than three billion pounds of various waste materials in 2006, and the company continues to introduce technologies that enable eco-friendly products and processes.
