RadTech recognizes new Scotchgard techology
DALTON—Scotchgard Protector Advanced Repel Technology for hardwood was recently recognized for its innovation by earning the Emerging Technology Award by RadTech (the Association for Ultraviolet and Electronic Beam Technologies). Mohawk and 3M, the product’s creators, were cited by the organization as creating “an advanced class of pre-finished solid and engineered wood floors with highly desirable, easy-care properties.”

The new Scotchgard protective technology allows Mohawk to incorporate proprietary chemistry developed by 3M into the topcoat, which utilizes a UV curing process and results in advanced stain, soil and mar resistance. And, there are no adverse effects on the floor’s durability, appearance or slip resistant properties.

Ben McNabb, Mohawk brand manager for hard surface, said the easy care and cleaning benefits of the new Scotchgard give Mohawk dealers a unique advantage. “Most hardwood purchases still revolve around a few key species and finishes. This technology lets dealers offer something extra that their competitors can’t—making a significant difference on the dealer’s sales floor.”
