Armstrong announces September winners
Armstrong recently announced the September winners for its “What’s the Big Deal?” promotion. Josh R. from Versailles, Ky., was named the top salesperson for the month, beating out thousands of competitors and receiving a check for $1,000. “I had no idea I had won,” he said. “I really don’t keep up with the contest, I just sell the flooring. My sales rep called to let me know I had won.”

Modestly remarking that he just “got lucky” by winning the top sales slot for September, Josh did say Armstrong’s Grand Illusions line was a best seller for him, referring to Armstrong’s premium laminate that was introduced in 2007 and mimics the look of real, exotic hardwood. Grand Illusions comes in five distinctive patterns and a combination of features. “The customers really like the Grand Illusions line, and we had a strong laminate month.”

So, what will Josh do with his winnings? For starters, he plans to buy lunch for all the employees in the store and will probably use the rest for upcoming holiday gifts.

This is the second announcement of the winners of Armstrong’s “What’s the Big Deal?” contest, a four-month retail sales competition in which participants earn points and compete for cash and prizes. Retailers can redeem their reward points for various prizes awarded by Armstrong. The company recently added more flooring choices, including top sellers and new intros, enabling participants the opportunity to earn even more points, cash and prizes.

“The ‘What’s the Big Deal?’ promotion was created to reward Armstrong dealers in many ways. There is an immediate incentive in the double reward credits. There is a monthly cash prize to focus on sales for a specific month. There is the overall, long-term cash grand prize by category and the overall grand prize winner—cash prizes that total $90,000. It’s not too late to get a piece of the action even if you enroll for the first time today,” said Carlene Moloney, marketing manager.
