Mohawk ranked among 10 best on Training’s Top 125
DALTON—Professional training and education are keys to making a successful company. Just ask Mohawk Industries, which was just recognized by Training magazine as one of the country’s 10 best training organizations.

This marked the third consecutive year Mohawk’s training efforts have been recognized by the magazine’s annual “Training Top 125” survey. Last year it came in No. 19 after breaking onto the list at No. 64. The listing, which includes manufacturers and retailers, features numerous powerhouses, such as Microsoft, Verizon, Best Buy as well as McDonald’s, all of which were ranked below Mohawk.

“Many of the organizations on this list have global operations and tremendous resources for training,” said Robert Webb, Mohawk’s director corporate communications and training. “We are honored Training magazine feels our programs meet these same high standards of excellence.”

Key factors influencing the rankings include training tied to business objectives, leadership development programs, tuition assistance to employees, number of trainers and subject matter experts, certification programs and business results.

Mohawk’s training crosses all its divisions, including DalTile University, Unilin, Mohawk Home, Logistics, Customer Service, Human Resources and Mohawk University.

Training magazine cited Mohawk for a variety of programs, especially a new employee orientation and onboarding initiative that includes online and classroom learning as well as structured interaction between the new hires, their peers and supervisors. Sales performance training and Mohawk University’s award-winning retailer program were also noted.

The latter is the company’s residential flooring training arm and teaches thousands of people each year how to become experts in different aspects of the floor covering business. Mohawk University has actually been recognized in and of itself both within and outside the industry.
