Armstrong teams with INSTALL, CITF in resilient installation certification
LANCASTER, PA.—Armstrong has partnered with INSTALL and its curriculum provider, the Carpenters International Training Fund (CITF), to present joint certification for commercial resilient installation.

The agreement to mutually recognize Armstrong and CITF training for certification will grant certified professionals the benefits of the Armstrong Certified Installer Program as well as access to the INSTALL marketing program.

“By promoting the INSTALL program, we hope to bring this training and expertise to an even larger contractor audience,” said Tim Rawlins, manager of new product development and installation services for Armstrong. “In this way, we can promote and advance minimum industry standards for quality installation, which benefits our entire industry.”

The arrangement specifies only the standards for qualification and testing will be accepted by both Armstrong and INSTALL—each will continue conducting its own proprietary training and educational programs.

“There is tremendous benefit in not recreating the wheel, but rather partnering with the experts, in this case Armstrong, to expose our INSTALL contractors and flooring professionals to a comprehensive program,” said John McGrath, director of INSTALL. “This is clearly a win-win for all involved, especially the customer, who will get excellent work by a contractor using INSTALL/Armstrong certified flooring professionals.”

Certification is available at no cost for INSTALL installer members at UBC training sites throughout the U.S. and Canada, and retailers/contractors using Armstrong certified installers are listed on the company’s Web site, armstrong.com. Interested installers can sign up for certification at their local training center.
