Mannington returns to show floor for Surfaces 2010
HICKSVILLE, N.Y.—After appearing at Surfaces 2009 in a nearby ballroom, Mannington Mills has confirmed its participation in the 2010 edition of the show and will once again occupy a familiar location on the trade show floor. The booth will feature the mill’s full line of both residential and c o m m e r c i a l flooring in all product categories. Beaulieu of America has also announced its participation in the show.

“In addition to being a strong show of our support for the flooring industry,” said Kim Holm, president of Mannington’s residential business, “Surfaces provides us the perfect forum to launch our new products and programs. We are confident that business conditions will be on the rebound by yearend and can’t wait to kick off 2010 with growth expectations.”

Said Dana Teague, show director, Surfaces, “Mannington is an integral part of the show. While it had a strong presence at the market this year, we’re excited to have Mannington back on the trade show floor, the pulse of the show, for the 2010 event.”

According to Holm, “The ballroom worked out very well for us this past year but, unfortunately, is not available for the 2010 show, so we have decided to return to our traditional location near the center of the convention floor.

“Our space for 2010 will be slightly larger than the ballroom (10,000 square feet) but smaller than the space we had in 2008 (about 20,000 square feet),” he explained. “We’re anticipating a rebound in business and attendance for 2010 and want to ensure we have the appropriate space for the show.”

Regarding sponsoring any programs at Surfaces, such as the Educational Conference as it had done in the past, Holm added, “We have not finalized [any further] arrangements with Hanley Wood at this time. We traditionally make those types of arrangements closer to the convention.”

In other news, Beaulieu of America, veteran exhibitor of Surfaces since the show’s inception in 1990, has confirmed its participation for the 2010 edition. “Beaulieu has been a mainstay of Surfaces for the past 20 years,” Teague said. “The mill is a staple of the show and the industry.”

Beaulieu returns to Surfaces 2010 in the same location it has occupied for the last two years. The 11,500-square-foot space will feature the mill’s full line of Coronet and Hollytex broadloom, as well as the Bliss by Beaulieu residential carpet brand.

“We have been reminding people why they should be doing business with Beaulieu,” said Jeff Meadows, vice president of sales and marketing. “We’re a major player and the largest carpet-only producer with great brands and products. Surfaces gives us the platform to tell that story like nothing else can.

“For all the years I’ve been in this business, I still look forward to Surfaces. At Beaulieu, we place a lot of importance on loyalty to our dealers—like an extension of our family. So Surfaces, in many ways, is like a family get-together for us, to celebrate the business we achieve together and to grow together.”

Beaulieu was instrumental in increasing awareness of floor covering within the consumer publication sector at the 2009 market, noted Patricia Flavin, senior vice president of marketing. “Plans are again in place to host the consumer media at this year’s show and we will be actively involved in the planning and implementation of our participation.

“Surfaces has been very good for us. It’s where we launched Bliss two years ago and last year we unveiled exciting new additions to the line, Flirtation and Healthy Home II. Next year will be the third Surfaces for Bliss and, you know what they say, ‘third time’s a charm!’”

Surfaces 2010 will be held Feb. 2 to 4 at the Sands Expo and Convention Center, in Las Vegas. Exhibits are open from Tuesday through Thursday while the education program opens Monday, Feb. 1, and goes through Thursday, Feb. 4.
