DALTON—Shaw Industries has commenced operations at a new, state-of-the-art rug distribution facility in Ringgold, Ga. Plant 37 provides Shaw Living, the mill’s rug division, with a more efficient and state-of-the-art automated packaging system and puts all distribution methods under the same roof, noted Jeff Brown, vice president of Shaw Living. This larger facility is specifically catered toward the rug division’s national retail chain customers.

The new facility contains over 600,000 square feet with computerized, convenient and consolidated shipping technology. “These capabilities will provide Shaw Living customers with more timely service and ensure on-time delivery,” he explained. The automated packing system will increase efficiencies.

“This facility is a commitment to the future of our rug division,” Brown added. “We will be moving product as fast and efficiently as we can to satisfy our customers and improve our own effectiveness as a company.”

Plant 37 began operations in May. Brown said that the facility is currently 95% through the completion stage and will reach its full operating capacity this month.
