Mohawk Laminate Featured in VIP Areas of U.S. Open Tennis Tournament
DALTON (August 27, 2009)—The world’s top professional tennis players deserve the best. At this year’s U.S. Open, that includes Mohawk Laminate. Mohawk’s new premium Marcina laminate is being used in VIP areas in the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y. during the tournament, which runs from August 31 through September 13. One of tennis’ “Grand Slam” events, the U.S. Open draws more than 600 men and women competitors who will vie for up to $23.2 million in prize money.

Before matches, many tennis competitors will prepare in dressing areas featuring Mohawk Marcina. The Marcina series boasts a soft scraped look which adds visual drama and sophistication to any room of the home. Surface details are reminiscent of true hand scraping techniques with planks featuring a subtle contour and slightly scraped pillowed edges. Four styles are available featuring domestic exotic wood looks: Warm Cherry, Amber Maple, Chocolate Maple and Mocha Hickory.

Marcina is an 8mm product that comes in 6 1/8” wide x 54 11/32 planks. It features a limited lifetime residential warranty.

“We’re delighted to be associated with one of the nation’s premier sporting traditions,” said Ben McNabb, Hard Surface Brand Manager. “The selection of Marcina for this project reinforces the value and quality of Mohawk hard surface products, and shows the versatility of use with our laminate line.”
