Mohawk takes Manhattan this Summer with Major Consumer Media Exposure
DALTON—Mohawk is taking Manhattan this summer, with a series of high profile events with some of the largest consumer lifestyle magazines in the business.

Mohawk is part of a summer social schedule featuring innovative green design projects, celebrity chefs and designers, fresh ideas, and remarkable flooring.

Country Living 2010 House of the Year

Does a country cottage with a wraparound porch located in the center of a bustling city sound slightly out-of-place? Country Living Magazine looks to shake things up by building "The Hudson," its 2010 House of the Year, in lower Manhattan's World Financial Center.

Named after its close proximity to the Hudson River on 220 Vesey Street, the “Hudson” is a two-bedroom, two-and-a-half bathroom, 1,600-square-feet home that embodies “green living with classic country style.”

The Hudson represents a joint effort of LEED-certified, modular green home designs by Country Living and New World Home called the Country Living Collection. Features include fireplaces, oversize windows, and an open floor plan that fully integrates the greenest products and practices available today. To match the beautiful exterior, acclaimed NY interior designer Katie Ridder was handed household decorating duties citing green furnishings with an emphasis on bold color.

Mohawk is participating in the project with two products: Mohawk EverStrand™ carpet featuring 100% post consumer recycled content from soft drink bottles, and reclaimed Zanzibar antique elm wood, a distinctive hardwood floor that uses reclaimed lumber from age old dismantled buildings.

Country Living Home was unveiled June 3 and be open to the public from June 4 -17. To learn more, visit www.mohawkflooring.com/mohawk-takes-manhattan/country-living.aspx.

House Beautiful 2010 Kitchen of the Year

Beginning July 19th through July 23rd, House Beautiful Magazine will present the 2010 Kitchen of the Year with Flipping Out’s Jeff Lewis.

Taking a break from the stress of rebuilding and reselling real estate on Bravo TV, Lewis will unveil his dream kitchen design in Rockefeller Plaza in conjunction with the Tastes of Summer series.

The 1,000 square foot design will be enclosed in a glass conservatory, and will let thousands of people see the latest in style, function, and beauty—including Mohawk SmartStrand® carpet made with DuPont™ Sorona® renewably sourced polymer and Zanzibar reclaimed antique elm hardwood.
More details on this project will be available closer to the unveiling.

Saveur Summer BBQ

In what is sure to be one of the most flavorful culinary gatherings all year, Saveur magazine will be hosting its first annual Summer BBQ, featuring an amazing collection of celebrity chefs in attendance.

In addition to enjoying some scrumptious spareribs, Mohawk will also be on hand to provide one of the "signature" moments for the chefs during this outing. The details are still secret, but a hint is that it involves Mohawk SmartStrand with DuPont Sorona carpet—and plenty of fun for chefs and viewers alike.
