SALEM, NJ – September 10, 2010 -- Today’s hectic lifestyles often leave people wondering when they can find time to exercise each day. To prove that daily exercise is as easy as walking more during your normal workday, all six Burke and Mannington locations will participate in an effort to “Walk Around the World in Eight Days”.

The “Walk Around the World in Eight Days” event will occur from October 1st through October 9th, and encourages participation from associates and their families. “If each person walks just ¾ of a mile each day of the challenge, we’ll have reached our goal of 25,000 miles,” said Betsy Amoroso, Director of Corporate Communications at Mannington Mills.

For several years now, Mannington has led the charge toward wellness through its ongoing “Wellness Program,“ which includes company-sponsored programs and events to help associates and their families make good lifestyle choices. “The Walk Around The World event is a great way to show people that by simply increasing the number of steps we take each day, we can improve our overall fitness and well being,” Amoroso said. “Mannington’s ongoing wellness initiatives have not only improved the health of our associates and their families, but they’ve reduced our overall healthcare costs, as well.”

Mannington Mills has four locations: Salem, NJ; Calhoun, Ga., High Point, NC; and Epes, Ala. Burke has two locations: San Jose, CA; and Eustis, Fla.
