Mannington contract first for NSF/ANSI 332
CALHOUN, GA.—NSF International certified Mannington Commercial as the first mill to comply with its new standard for resilient flooring. NSF/ANSI 332, Sustainability Assessment Standard for Resilient Floor Coverings. It outlines criteria to promote sustainable manufacturing processes with a four-tiered system—Conformant, Silver, Gold and Platinum. Mannington’s Inlaid and Premium Tile products earned Gold certification based on product design; product manufacturing; long-term value; end-of-life management; corporate governance and innovation (FCNews, May 3/10).

“Mannington is the first to achieve certification under this standard,” said Petie Davis, manager of NSF’s sustainability services, “demonstrating its commitment to environmental stewardship.”

“While these products are the first to be certified to the new standard we are already working on others,” said Dave Kitts, Mannington’s vice president, Environment. “One of the benefits of the NSF standard is everything is measurable, documented and proven. Sustainability cannot only be about good intentions; it must also include measurable indexes. Better products—meaning innovative and improved with a smaller environmental impact—will become the rule rather than the exception.”
