Mannington hosts annual ‘Art is Cool’ event
SALEM, N.J.—Mannington Mills hosted the eighth annual “Art is Cool” reception recently at its corporate headquarters here. The event, which is part of the mill’s participation in the “Partners of Salem County” program, recognizes high school artists for their talent and is hosted by Mannington chairman Keith Campbell.

The program is designed to help bring awareness to the importance of art in education. “Creativity is what drives our business here at Mannington,” Campbell said. “It’s central to so much in life, and it’s important that our communities continue to support the arts in schools.”

Students in grades nine through 12 from the five high schools in Salem County were invited to participate. Almost 200 submissions were sent in and judged by members of Mannington’s styling department—all of whom have fine arts training. “The students are always surprised to know an artistic background can carry you through to a business career,” said Betsy Amoroso, director of corporate communications. “Our stylists are a good example of what can come of your talent if you pursue that.”
