Construction Begins on Seventh Home Featuring Mohawk Flooring as Part of Ongoing Partnership with Operation Finally Home
DALTON, Ga. July 24, 2012— Crews in Chicago are hard at work this summer, building a custom home for an American hero wounded while serving his country. The home is the seventh installment in a series of builds this year coordinated by Operation Finally Home and featuring Mohawk flooring. Founded by the Bay Area Builders Association in 2005, Operation Finally Home is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing custom-built, mortgage-free homes for wounded and disabled veterans, as well as spouses of the fallen.

“We are just halfway through the year and we’re already building our seventh home,” said Daniel Vargas, executive director of Operation Finally Home. “It’s exciting. We are on pace to complete more houses in 2012 than any previous year. We couldn’t do what we do without the help of our corporate sponsors, and we couldn’t ask for a better partner than Mohawk. Their flooring and customer service are outstanding, but most importantly, they believe in the mission just as deeply as we do.”

This is Mohawk’s first year partnering with Operation Finally Home, and the company will donate flooring for 16 builds in 2012. Elise Demboski, Mohawk’s vice president of creative services, says the partnership has really resonated with the company’s retail partners and their customers.

“There is a renewed focus among consumers regarding buying products that are made in America,” explained Demboski. “We take great pride in being a domestic manufacturer, but we also believe in doing our part to make our country a better place to live and work. Operation Finally Home embodies values that the entire Mohawk family holds dear—from our employees to our retailers and their customers. It is our privilege to support the worthwhile work of this amazing organization.”

Most recently, Mohawk supplied flooring for three homes contributed by Operation Finally Home in Gunter, Texas. U.S. Army Sergeant Levi Wilson, U.S. Army Sergeant First Class Alan Hornaday, and U.S. Marine Corps Sergeant Robert Aiken III are now neighbors. The three heroes were presented with their homes during an emotional key exchanging ceremony in May. Mohawk provided thousands of square feet of flooring products across the three houses, which included SmartStrand carpet, ceramic tile, laminate and hardwood.
