New Protimeter 4-in-1 Moisture Measuring Instrument From GE, Designed for One-Handed Use
Billerica, MA USA – The Protimeter MMS2, the latest addition to GE’s Protimeter product line, is a 4-in-1 instrument, ergonomically designed for easy one-handed operation in measuring moisture in materials in buildings and related structures. It can measure surface moisture and moisture below a surface, as well as acting as a hygrometer to measure ambient air humidity. The addition of an infra-red thermometer allows the difference between dew point and surface temperature to be calculated, as well as a wide range of other important psychometric parameters.
The new instrument will help building professionals such as home inspectors; flood damage restoration and flooring contractors assess moisture levels during new build and refurbishing activities and assist in the diagnoses of moisture-related problems in existing buildings.
When used as a moisture meter, the MMS2 can be operated in Search mode or Measure mode. Search mode uses radio frequency technology to allow fast assessment of surface and sub-surface moisture level down to a depth of around ¾”“ in dense, homogenous materials. With Measure mode, precise surface measurements, which are repeatable and specific to the point of pin contact, are taken using the new integral probe pins design or a connectable pin moisture probe. Sub-surface moisture measurements are carried out using optional deep wall probes.
Surface temperature is obtained without contact, through an infra-red thermometer with spot ration of 12:1 and the point of measurement is indicated by the target spot of an integral laser light. Ambient temperature is shown at the touch of a button on the instrument’s full color user interface display, which also indicates calculated relative humidity and dew point.
