Art of Board, Imagine Tile Team Up to Show Support for Skatepark
Lake Forest, CA—April 23, 2013—Lifestyle brand Art of Board and New York City-based tile studio Imagine Tile are teaming up to show their support for California’s Etnies Skatepark and the annual event, The Gathering: Where Art Meets Skateboarding. Held every year at Etnies Skatepark, the fourth installment of this exhibition and auction features skateboard art and photography, and helps raise funds to keep the park free and open to the public. For the event held this Saturday, April 27th, Imagine Tile and Art of Board will be donating colorful tiles for a permanent installation to this well-maintained skatepark that is preserved by the City of Lake Forest in California.
The Art of Board Collection, a skateboard-themed tile by Imagine Tile and Art of Board, is a series of original photo-realistic ceramic tile that embraces a used skateboard’s scratches, gouges, and worn graphics. The donated Art of Board tiles will be placed in Etnies Skatepark after this weekend’s event to honor this action sport. “These tiles will enhance the skatepark’s atmosphere, remain durable in the outdoor setting, and preserve and pay homage to the graphic art that adorns recycled skateboard decks,” explains Christian McAuley, owner of Imagine Tile.
In addition to live music, food, a great atmosphere, and unique art displayed by over 40 artists and photographers, event-goers can stop by Art of Board’s tent to turn skateboard scrap pieces into key chains. A featured artist at the tent will also be creating a literal “decked-out” recycling bin, which will be donated to Etnies Skatepark after the event. “This event fits in line with what we’re all about; good design and giving back,” said Bruce Boul, VP Art of Board and co-founder of I Ride I Recycle. “We’ve been working with Etnies Skatepark for the past four years as they’ve been very instrumental in our I Ride I Recycle movement, and now we’re excited to give back with a splash of design to enhance the park.”
