Mohawk Group Employee Wins ASID Award of Excellence
CALHOUN, Ga. February 10, 2014— Jerry Henderson, senior stylist/designer for Mohawk Group, recently received the Presidential Citation Award of Excellence on behalf of Mohawk from the Georgia Chapter of American Society of Interior Designers.
The Georgia Chapter ASID is a regional resource for knowledge-sharing, advocacy of interior designers’ right-to-practice, professional education, and expansion of interior design markets. Henderson was honored at the Chapter’s 33rd annual state meeting at The Estate and Gardens in Atlanta, GA.
“This is our opportunity to recognize Mr. Henderson and Mohawk for their past, and continuing, support of our ASID Georgia Chapter,” said Shawn Alshut, current ASID Georgia Chapter president. “We especially want to thank them for sponsoring our inaugural Grace Jordan Howard Foundation membership scholarships, to the student designer award winners, in honor of our late executive director Grace Howard.”
Ms. Howard served the American Society of Interior Designers Georgia Chapter for eighteen years and won numerous awards for her work in the design community. In her honor, the ASID Georgia Chapter established the Grace Jordan Howard Foundation to gift students or members that may have a potential need.
“Grace used to say, ‘Even our carpet is from Mohawk,’” said Alshut. “Jerry and Mohawk have always been great supporters of our Chapter, and their sponsorship assists us in continuing Grace’s love of students and adding to the legacy of the ASID Georgia Chapter.”
“I was absolutely thrilled to receive this award,” added Henderson. “I am so delighted that Mohawk has taken the opportunity to carry the memory of this wonderful, talented person forward by nurturing outstanding design students and helping them succeed in the design industry.”
Henderson has worked for Mohawk for 26 years and has been a senior stylist for Mohawk Commercial Group for the past 12. He has been an active ASID member since 1987 and formerly served on its Board of Directors. He previously won a National ASID Industry Partner Merit Award and has won the ASID President’s Award twice.
