Imagine Tile and Art of Board Bring Skateboarding Culture to Ceramic Tile
NEW YORK, NY -- October 8, 2014 -- Imagine Tile, an industry leader pioneering the use of high-resolution imagery on commercially rated ceramic tile, has launched its second collection of porcelain skate-inspired tiles in collaboration with tile, home and lifestyle design brand, Art of Board. The 12-inch by 24-inch collection of rectified porcelain floor tile follows the success of their 3-inch by 6-inch wall tile collection, which was released last year in a standard gloss finish and has since been installed in residential, commercial and hospitality venues across the country. The new Art of Board Floor Collection is inspired by the personality, creativity, freedom and expression of urban skate culture and sustainable design.
"Launching a floor collection with Imagine Tile was a natural next step with the continued success of our 3-inch by 6-inch ceramic wall tile,” said Art of Board founder Rich Moorhead. “Being able to create such a unique product with a company that values sustainability and good design as much as we do, adds even more originality to our story and is taking skateboarding where it’s never been.”
The new collection, which is now available, features a variation of 12 different 12-inch by 24-inch rectified porcelain tiles in a matte finish. Using Imagine Tile’s patented glazing technology, the series comes alive with high-resolution imagery of used and recycled skateboard decks collected through Art of Board’s I Ride I Recycle program. The floor collection is made with pre-consumer recycled materials, contains no VOCs and is commercially rated for indoor or outdoor use. In addition, the tiles are engineered to be extremely resistant to water, strong chemicals and fading.
“We’re excited to have been able to work with Art of Board again,” said Christian McAuley, president of Imagine Tile. “The larger size tile is incredibly vibrant and striking, particularly for floor applications - we’re thrilled with the result.”
Art of Board gives back to various skate and surf related charities such as the Tony Hawk Foundation and Grind For Life, as well as funding Art of Board’s recycling movement called I Ride I Recycle, which aims to empower the skateboarding community, provide a recycling solution for the industry and support skateboarding at its core.
