Volunteer Your Time and Save: Students Needed to Assist at Building Innovation 2015
Students interested in attending Building Innovation 2015: The National Institute of Building Sciences Annual Conference & Expo, January 6-9, 2015, at the Washington Marriott Wardman Park in Washington, D.C., already receive a discounted price on registration. However, there’s a chance to attend the conference for FREE as a volunteer.
This is the perfect opportunity for architectural and engineering students to expand their construction knowledge and interact with some of the building industry’s leading experts.
For four impactful days, the Institute will explore Creating High-Performing Resilient Communities, with leading experts presenting the latest building industry advancements and offering real-world solutions for improving security, disaster preparedness, performance, sustainability, information resources and technologies for our nation’s buildings and infrastructure. On Day 1, attendees will get an insider’s view of the Institute in action and discover how they can get involved in developing solutions by attending any of the Institute’s board, council and committee meetings, as well as a keynote luncheon delivered by the Institute’s Board Chairman. On Days 2 through 4, the Institute will present four symposia focusing on four different tracks and a plenary symposium that will bring the entire Conference audience together for an overview of the collaboration of building industry professionals. In addition, Conference attendees will be able to participate in networking events and engage with exhibitors on the latest industry resources.

• Information Resources & Technology Symposium: Improving Facilities with the Power of Information
• Industry Leadership & Advocacy Symposium: Leading the Way to High-Performing Communities
• Facility Performance & Sustainability Symposium: Setting the Foundation for Resilient Communities
• Plenary Symposium: Creating High-Performing Resilient Communities
The Institute is looking for student volunteers to serve as room monitors, scan badges and assist with other duties as needed. Volunteers receive a full conference registration, including lunches, and will be provided time to attend the symposia and keynote addresses, for their time commitment.
Students interested in volunteering should email their name, university, major, professor and contact information to Gretchen Hesbacher at ghesbacher@nibs.org, subject line: “I want to volunteer.” Volunteer requests are due no later than Friday, December 12, 2014.
Please note, travel expenses and hotel accommodations are not included. Due to the time restraints, international students requiring a VISA application will not be considered.
Not a student, but still interested in volunteering? Submit an email. Decisions will be made on an individual basis.
