Lunada Bay Tile Introduces Textile
(Harbor City, CA, April 14, 2015) Designer Feras Irikat has creatively translated heirloom textile designs into a new collection of glass mosaic tiles for Lunada Bay Tile.

Inspired by some of the most memorable vintage textile patterns and weaving techniques from around the world, Textile by Lunada Bay Tile creates imaginative, sustainable and glimmering glass mosaic tile surfaces for commercial and residential applications in three patterns—Bargello, Imberline, and Normadie Deco—and six colors: Anise, Blue Stone, Flannel, Lunar Eclipse, Mica, and Morning Light.

Bargello
Borrowing inspiration from a Renaissance period embroidery technique, Bargello is a modern flame stitch pattern presented in glimmering glass tile. In traditional Bargello needlepoint embroidery, vibrant wool threads were stitched onto canvas using upright flat stitches. The challenging pattern sometimes used multiple shades of one color to produce a shaded effect. The name “Bargello” originates from a pair of 17th century chairs discovered in the Bargello palace in Florence (known today as the Bargello National Museum), which incorporated the pattern onto the chair upholstery.

We create Bargello using the classic Lunada Bay Tile martini-shaped glass tile in a blend of textures and colors: Anise, Blue Stone, Flannel, Lunar Eclipse, Mica, and Morning Light.

Imberline
Traditional weaving techniques create some of the most beautiful and decadent patterns for interior design. Lunada Bay Tile created Imberline in honor of the woven fabric that combines various colored stripes that are often punctuated by gold thread. While Imberline is traditionally used in upholstery and drapery, we recreated the pattern in lustrous glass tile that is perfect for walls and backsplashes where a dramatic stripe can make visual impact.

The Imberline pattern is fashioned using ½ x 4-inch tiles in a blend of textures and colors, including Anise, Blue Stone, Flannel, Lunar Eclipse, Mica, and Morning Light.

Normandie Deco
Lunada Bay Tile takes a cue for its newest tile pattern—Normandie Deco—from the opulent Deco furnishings found in a the famous 1930’s French luxury ocean liner.

The French Line, Compagnie Générale Transatlantique launched the SS Normandie in 1935. At the time, it was proclaimed the world’s longest, fastest and most comfortable trans-Atlantic ocean liner. The sumptuous interiors showcased France’s most-established talents of grand luxe in Art Déco and Streamline Moderne styles. Designed as a floating paradise for about 1,700 passengers, the Normandie (nicknamed the “Queen of the Seas”) was frequented by celebrities like Salvadore Dalí, James Stewart, Cary Grant, and Marlene Dietrich.

Lunada Bay Tile’s Normandie Deco pattern is made with ½ x ½ mini mosaic in a blend of textures and colors, including Anise, Blue Stone, Flannel, Lunar Eclipse, Mica, and Morning Light.
