CFI Presents the Carpet Master-II Certification
During the week of August 4-8, in conjunction with the Carpet, Resilient, Ceramic, Laminate and Wood Certifications, the CFI Carpet Master-II Test will be offered in Fort Wayne, IN August 4-7, 2015. The test is the highest form of certification available in the carpet installation segment of the industry. It is a very intensive, three-day test of hand skills, written and verbal knowledge.

Installers who participate are required to have successfully completed the Residential I-II and Commercial I-II certifications. With the deposit of $100.00, the written test can be taken prior to the date at any CFI event or the installer may arrive early to complete it onsite prior to the onset of the testing. Applicants are to submit a resume or work history, letters of recommendation, the 4-page CFI Master-II application and proof of ten years of carpet installation experience.

There is no assistance available. Testing requirements include seaming of difficult carpets; knowledge of handsewing; skill to properly estimate, manage and staff large commercial installations; proficiency in conversing with client concerning custom installations; proficient in the art of pattern alignment; essential knowledge of moisture, alkalinity and substrate preparation procedures; direct-glue and double-glue installation skills; displays the necessary “people skills” to assist industry personnel; exhibits ability to identify and explain correct carpet and cushion for various types of applications; demonstrates ability to hand sew bullnose stairs and borders on curved staircases; readily identifies 25 carpet backings and demonstrates skill; knowledge of modular tile, wall base, stair tread and transition installations and completion of a detailed commercial seaming and accessories blueprint.

The CFI Master-II designation is a requirement for specific installations and one that is held in high esteem.

Attendance is limited because of the number of modules that are available. A $100.00 fee is due prior to May 15, 2015 to receive the Master-II Preparation Packet. The balance of $400.00 is due prior to June 8, 2015 to participate.

During the week of August 4th, CFI will also be conducting the WFCA flooring surfaces training and certification workshops of carpet, resilient, ceramic, laminate and wood. This will be a week-long opportunity for installers to enhance their skills.

The classes normally are priced at $495.00 each, but if you are a WFCA member, you will receive an instant rebate of $200.00 bringing the cost to only $295.00. Also, if you have any trade scholarship funds remaining, they can be applied to cover up to 50% of the cost, resulting in an amazing final price of only $147.50 per class. The scholarship also applies to the Master-II test. No one in the industry has a value close to what is offered by WFCA! If you are not a member, JOIN TODAY!

CFI also invites estimators, service managers, consumer claims and sales personnel and others in your company who wish to attend the classes to increase their knowledge of both product characteristics and installation techniques and receive the CFI Technical Certification at the cost of $495.00. This is a great opportunity to understand the requirements of a professional flooring installation during the hands-on training for the installers.

AND MORE………… Tom Jennings, well-known industry personality will address customer service skills with both groups. We all recognize that good hand skills are important, but good presentation and people skills are just as crucial. This is an area in which few have received very little formal training. Attendees will learn the importance of proper communication skills that benefit not only the customer, but themselves as well.

This is hands-on, actively involved training for installers that will reap major rewards. Also, those who successfully complete the CFI Laminate/Wood Certification have the opportunity to apply for the Armstrong Certification at no additional fee and the NWFA (National Wood Flooring Association) Certification and the NALFA (North American Laminate Flooring Association) Certification for minimal fees. The Armstrong Resilient Certification is also available.
