Quick-Step's Pro Cycling Team Donates Their Time To Support Fund-Raiser For Shriner's Children's Hospital
Dallas, TX – May 6, 2015 – Quick-Step’s professional cycling team will donate their time this Thursday evening at the Riders Gala 2015, a fundraising event benefitting the Shriner’s Hospital for Children in Sacramento, California.
A Noble Charity Event
“This is a really noble event that the Etixx/Quick-Step pro cycling team is taking part in, prior to the upcoming Amgen Tour of California race,” said Paij Thorn-Brooks, vice president of brand marketing for Quick-Step NA. “Each year the racers and principals of the Etixx/Quick-Step team donate their time to support this charity fund-raiser for the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital. At the charity event, the team will spend time with children cared for by the Shriner’s hospital as well as provide Quick-Step cycling team items to be used in a silent auction that raises money for the hospital. We are all extremely proud of our professional cycling team’s efforts. The Etixx/Quick-Step Pro Cycling Team has some of the best racers in the world, along with the current and multiple past World Champions. For our cycling team to take part in this children’s event is quite moving.”
The Etixx/Quick-Step Cycling Team
Etixx/Quick-Step is a World Tour cycling team established in 2003. Since its inception the team has captured almost 500 victories including 14 Monument Classics, 4 Road World Championships, 5 ITT Road World Championships, 2 TTT World Championships, 2 World Cups, and an Olympic Title. This Quick-Step sponsored team was known last year as “the winningest team” for the third year in a row due to 68 overall wins (64 road). 2014 was also the third consecutive year that the team surpassed 60 victories in a season.
Current top riders for the team are legendary sprinter Mark Cavendish (25 stage victories at Tour de France), Tom Boonen (4 times Paris Roubaix winner), Michal Kwiatkowski (current World Champion), three-time UCI World TT Champion Tony Martin, Niki Terpstra, and GC extraordinaire Rigoberto Uran.
