Quick-Step On Oprah's "Home Made Simple" - Habitat For Humanity Living Room Refresh
Dallas, TX – May 8, 2015 – Quick-Step flooring was selected by the interior designer for Oprah’s Home Made Simple television show to serve as a key design element in a “living room refresh”. The room transformation was for Habitat For Humanity homeowner partner, Ms. Toni Nettles, who lives in the Watts neighborhood of Los Angeles, California.

Former President Jimmy Carter Built Her Home!
Toni’s Habitat For Humanity charity home has the distinction of being built in 1995 by Former President Jimmy Carter and First Lady Rosalynn Carter. During the original home build, President and Mrs. Carter hammered nails, hauled wood, and installed siding on the home, alongside other volunteers. One of Toni’s prized photos is a picture of Rosalynn holding the ladder steady while Jimmy works on the construction.

Toni’s Story
Habitat For Humanity Homeowner Partner Toni Nettles has lived in her Watts neighborhood Habitat-built home for 19 years. During that time, she has raised her three children as well as 15 grandchildren while placing her needs and desires well behind those of her extended family. Toni is focused on creating a strong multigenerational family setting. As a proud Habitat For Humanity homeowner, she continues to enjoy her home with the pride of a woman who has devoted her life to her family, creating a loving environment for all.

“Quick-Step is pleased to help reward and re-energize someone who has worked so hard to build a good life for her family,” said Paij Thorn-Brooks, vice president of brand marketing for Quick-Step. “Hopefully, Toni feels personal satisfaction from being such a positive presence in the lives of so many of her family members for two generations.”

New Floor — Room’s Design Foundation
The original carpet had been in Toni’s home for 19 years, so it was in dire need of replacement! Home Made Simple’s interior designer chose Quick-Step’s Aged Chestnut planks from the Dominion Collection to serve as the design foundation for the room.

The designer’s vision was to create a living room with a warm, comfortable, inviting feeling about it — so Aged Chestnut was the perfect selection! Aged Chestnut’s high-quality laminate planks offer the visuals and texture of an expensive hand-scraped hardwood floor, but at a price attractive to the majority of a retailer’s customers. The color variation as well as the appearance of natural knots, splits, and wood graining add to the high-end, yet inviting hardwood decor.

Beautiful, Affordable, Easy-To-Install
An important premise of Home Made Simple is that the show’s interior designers purposely use products and make changes that are beautiful, stylish, affordable for consumers, and easy to achieve. This made Quick-Step a perfect fit for this episode’s living room refresh! The level of realism and sophisticated design in Quick-Step flooring brings the authentic look and feel of a hardwood floor into a home, at a price that fits into most decorating budgets.

Quick-Step floors are also easy to install, because they feature the patented Uniclic glueless installation locking system. As viewers watch the transformation of Toni’s living room, they witness how a new Quick-Step floor can literally be installed in one day, but enjoyed for years to come!
