French Country Design Has Enduring Appeal & Quick-Step's New Chateau Oak Is Perfect Foundation
Dallas, TX – November 30, 2015 – The romantically charming aesthetic of homes and châteaus in the South of France has stayed on trend with interior designers for many years. French Country décor is simultaneously soothing yet cheerful; elegant yet effortless; both busy and balanced. This enduring category of design pairs nicely with the rustic elegance of Quick-Step’s Château Oak planks, from the NEW Envique laminate flooring collection recently launched nationwide.

“The warm beige of Quick-Step’s new Château Oak offers just a hint of today’ popular grey undertones and features authentic soft-scraped texturing to create the perfect floor for those looking to incorporate a welcoming French Country style into their home,” says Erinn Valencich, Los Angeles-based interior designer, style expert, and Quick-Step’s celebrity designer partner.

French Country Living With Château Oak
“French Country décor has long inspired living spaces throughout the world,” says Valencich. “From provincial fabrics and ruffles to stacks of mismatched porcelain, this country feel is familiar to almost anyone. Achieving French Country in your space takes a balancing act between the stately and the casual.”

“Quick-Step’s Château Oak planks incorporate the most essential element of French Country style — earthy tones and textures,” adds Valencich. “Château Oak is a rustic oak décor with a soft-scraped texture. The design includes chatter, cracks, and a saw cut effect along with a subtle French bleed that enhances the sculpted edge treatment. This floor sets the perfect rustic foundation for the distressed woodwork, toile fabrics, and soft patterns identified with homes in the French countryside.”

Get The Look
“Though it has been around for centuries, French Country can be incorporated beautifully into the design of a modern home,” says Valencich. “It’s all about toning down the color palette, while still using the key signifiers of that sweet country touch. Here are a few of my favorite tips to achieve French Country in a modern home:”

• Old and new accents. Clocks, chandeliers, you name it. If you don’t have heirlooms lying around waiting to be combined with your favorite modern pieces, start unearthing gems at thrift shops, garage sales, or trade markets.

• Patterns, whitewashes, and toiles. Don’t be afraid to combine whitewashed wood surfaces with soft provincial textures. If floral patterns and toiles feel too busy for your aesthetic, tone down the classic bright blues and reds and go for more modern neutrals instead.

• Wrought-iron finishes. Iron may not be your first thought when you hear the word “cozy,” but paired with plenty of pillows, cushions and ruffles, this is a great material for evoking that rustic feel in an urban setting.

• Overstuffed chair. The homespun comfort of a large, overstuffed chair provides a welcoming statement piece for a French Country room.
