Tracy Pruitt Video Discusses the Making of Karastan’s Limited Edition Rug
SUGAR VALLEY, GA, January 6, 2016: Karastan has released a video by Karastan’s vice president of design, Tracy Pruitt, discussing one of Karastan’s most daring design moves—recreating its iconic Multi Panel Kirman, the most popular rug Karastan has ever made, in new colors. This latest addition to the Artisan Collection, called Panel Kirman Granite, will be unveiled at the Atlanta and Las Vegas rug markets in January as a limited edition rug.
With only 250 of these amazing rugs in production, these limited edition works of art are sure to become treasured collectibles. In fact, each limited edition rug will come with a “Letter of Authenticity,” telling the story of the limited edition rug and the inspiration behind it as well as a medallion inscribed with the number of the rug such as “1 of 250.”
The 717 Multi Panel Kirman, the longest running line and top selling rug of all time, included 53 colors. “People love this rug for its intricate pattern and complex coloration, which continue to make it a top seller,” Pruitt said. “In fact, when most people hear the name Karastan, this is the rug that comes to mind.”
With Panel Kirman Granite Karastan has not tried to outdo the original—just offer this compelling pattern in a contemporary palette. Keeping in mind a renewed appreciation of classic and traditional design, Karastan hopes Panel Kirman Granite will appeal to millennials who are “using traditional designs in unexpected ways in modern and bohemian décor,” Pruitt said.
The limited edition rug has a foundation of grays and neutrals with pops of French blue, bronze, tobacco, citron and carmine red. Strias have been added to give the rug more of a vegetal-dyed, hand-made appearance.
