Lunada Bay Tile's New Lacquer Collection Reinterprets Ancient Japanese Art on Ceramic Medium
"Spanning modern and traditional design, the collection reflects a rarified and refined beauty," says Feras Irikat, director of design and marketing for Lunada Bay Tile.
Lacquer ceramic tiles are created with a multistep process that begins with applying random striations of color to the tiles, which are then fired at high temperatures. A clear coat is added, and the tiles are fired again to create a reflective, lustrous finish. The result is a modern approach to the art of traditional lacquerware.
Versatile in its application, Lunada Bay Tile's Lacquer collection brings reflective drama to backsplashes, feature walls, and shower walls. The Lacquer line includes two shapes: 1 x 6-inch rectangle and 1 3/4 x 4-inch elongated hexagon, both sold attached to a mesh backing for quick and easy installation.
The stunning mosaics are available in five striated and trend-forward colorways ideal for creating a mood in a range of decors. While Aura features subtle grays, Moonwalk's darker grays offer textural contrast. Taking the palette up a few notches are Nautical Dawn, which combines blue, green, and lilac tones, as well as Twilight, which mixes purple, blue, and yellow for an atmospheric touch of personality. And Galaxy holds an exciting blend of all four colors for maximum decorative impact.
