Caucasian Rugs
Caucasian Rugs Caucasian rugs are made in one of two major rug producing areas in Central Asia
(the other being the Turkoman region) and are both recognized for the high quality weaves of their
respective nomadic tribes. Caucasian rugs are made in this difficult mountainous area between the Caspian and Black
Seas and, although the region now belongs to the USSR, it has been home to many different
tribes from Turkey, Armenia and Persia, all of which have contributed to its
rich and storied heritage. Caucasian rugs produced in this area of the world feature definite geometric
overall design, along with the addition of artistic and natural figures such as birds and
flowers. Examples made in the Turkestan region between the Caspian sea and
north-western China, feature works of art made by the various Afghani, Baluchi and Beshir
tribesmen, all incorporating a similar geometric style and unique
patterning.© 2008 FloorBiz, Inc. All Rights Reserved For more rare carpets and prestigious tapestries... FloorBiz is your starting point to all the important flooring sites on the internet.
