Clarksville Furniture Company’s history began in 1852 when Franz Julius Liipfert , a German immigrant, was hired to come to Mecklenburg County to build cabinets for Randolph-Macon College in Boydton, Virginia.
Liipfert later moved to Clarksville and began making furniture. This was the beginning of the present day Clarksville Furniture and Flooring Company.
The furniture and flooring business was incorporated in 1926 and has been locally owned and operated by several area families. Seven decades later, the business is locally owned and operated by Larry Kindley, Jr.
